24 July Westwards to Evesham

We enjoyed a last morning in Stratford upon Avon before going through the town lock. Having left the canal network we were then back on the River Avon.

One thing that is vastly different on the river is the ever changing scenery and delightful bridges. This one we could go through the central arch.

Whereas this one is right on the edge as there are rocks and very little water in the other arches.

When we came through a fortnight a go, when it was 30C +, we were having to navigate swimmers and paddle boarders. None today!

We wondered how this boat got there or how they plan to get it back in the river 🤔.

Today's trip highlights have been the kingfisher spotting (quick flashes of brilliant blue flitting over the water) and being caught! As Ian and I were being so attentive looking for kingfisher neither of us spotted a fishing kind out. And the fisherman was a bit dopey casting 2 lines into the middle of the river.

We ended up having to rescue his hook from the front of the boat. Imagine hid conversation in the pub tonight ..... ' I caught a 65 footer'!

Our last lock of the day, coming into Evesham, needed an extension arm and both Ian and Peter to get it moving.

This evening's view of the bridge across the River Avon. Very picturesque. Hopefully a quiet night moored up by the park.
