After a load of late evening bangs, which we later found out to be fireworks from the annual Evesham River Festival, we woke from our first night to clear skies.
First lock of the day as we headed towards Evesham.
Peter enjoying his Uncle role 🥰.
Arriving in Evesham we spotted several of the river festival boats.
A definite under water theme this year.
Our boat viewed from the bridge into Evesham.
One of the churches in Evesham.
Following our visit to Evesham it was back on board and making our way along the River Avon. Every so often we had a lock to tackle. Unfortunately for us the majority had to be emptied and filled as they weren't in our favour.
After a bit of a sluggish leg to the next lock Ian checked the propellor. He found a load of weed wrapped around it which was causing us to slow down.
Spotted on route. Thankfully empty!
We were having to vie with hoards of paddle boarders and swimmers at this bridge. Our only way through was the far right arch which was blocked by Sunday splashers and sun bathers. We eventually managed to get through without losing steerage 🤪.
A fun looking garden bench.
Our overnight mooring having got through Luddingstone lock. An ideal BBQ spot for our dinner.
Monday morning I took a short walk through the picturesque village. Some gorgeous thatched cottages.
This morning we only had to get through a couple of locks before arriving at Stratford upon Avon. Time to all disembark and explore.
A tourist heaven for Shakespeare fans!
Back on board it was then time to go through the lock to join the Stratford upon Avon canal network
This was at the start of a series of 17 locks.
The canal is really narrow at the start with the canal only just wide enough for a narrow boat to enter. Getting under bridges is also quite a challenge.
A drive through Macdonald's - well close enough for Peter to go and get ice from them!
Some of the boats in permanent use have mini gardens with fruit and vegetables growing.
In need of serious restoration!
A bit of a downpour but a large brolly kept us dry in the cockpit.
The final series of the 17 locks to our evening stop at Wootton Wawen.
So far it's been a lovely leisurely time on the waterways with only a few other boats out and about.
Approaching Wootton Wawen we went over the latest ngedt aqueduct in England.
A bit bizarre taking a boat in a canal and very a road.
We pottered around the village and managed to fit in a geo cache find before dinner back on board.
