25 July An Unsuccessful Search

We decided on a change of plan on today's activities and have put off Shrewsbury until tomorrow.

Instead we piled Rolo with all the unwanted items ready to be transported to the local recycling centre. It was a bit of a novelty not having to book a slot like we have to do in Kent. Instead you can just roll up and unload - much more convenient.

Afterwards we went on a trip to the spot where Gran and Grandad are buried. It's a green burial site which is like an orchard sprinkled with plaques in the undergrowth.

Sheep enjoying the lush, long grass. Unfortunately this made it more difficult to locate the plot and Mum wasn't sure if their apple tree had fallen down. The only trees in the area where she remembered their plot being had signs on them indicating who they were planted in memory of. Not Gran and Grandad!

So about an hour and soggy feet later, after traipsing up and down we still hadn't found it. Unfortunately the numbering system wasn't logical and hadn't help in it's location. This means when my sister arrives in a few weeks time I'll have to drag her along to find it, as accordingly to Mum a couple of years ago she found it. If we do find it we'll have to do a what3words on it so we can share it's position down to a square metre. The wonders of technology!

The little 'chapel' at the site.

To cheer ourselves up we stopped off in Craven Arms for fish and chips for our late lunch. Then it was a spot of knitting before spending the late afternoon doing crosswords and reading the papers with Dad.

Tomorrow it's retail therapy in Shrewsbury! 😀.
