28th February Up Skytower

A busy day out exploring Auckland all day in exceptionally brilliant weather (makes a change).

On our walk into the city we spotted a 2 tier bike storage facility - kept the men entertained for a few minutes as they were sorting out how it worked.

Ian's comment about the Maritime Museum was that it was a waste of a boat (half stuck on the exterior)😄.

View across the harbour.

View with Skytower.

New Zealanders look after their potatoes!

Historic wooden vessels festival this weekend.

We enjoyed a tasty lunch out today overlooking the harbour. I had a seafood stew - a bit spicy!

So spicy that I had tingly lips and the waiter got me some iced milk 😂.

We were entertained at the harbourside by competitors in a Manu competition - basically they have to jump from different heights and create the highest splash (7m splashes were being recorded). Points were also being given for artistic ability in the jump - some feet first, others bombs or some flat on their backs.

A mediocre splash.

Time to recreate a photo taken in 2006 up Skytower.

We found exactly the same spot but there are extra buildings now. I've stayed the same height but had to get the 'children' to kneel down 😂.

I had been taking a video of Amy attempting to walk across the glass flooring and we managed to partially film a wedding proposal. Lots of tears from the bride - probably due to the ring produced from a Tiffany box that Amy spotted. Both appeared to be very happy 🥰.

Skytower visit complete - just a matter of the walk back to our accomodation and packing our bags for tomorrow's flight to Australia.
