27th February Up a Mountain

Leaving our accommodation at Hot Water Beach this morning we have arrived in Auckland ready for a day's exploring tomorrow.

On route we went through Tairua so just had to climb Mt Puka! A bit of a climb with lots of steps but got there.

An amazing view from the top.

Mt Puka in the distance - an old volcano.

Our morning cuppa had different decorations. Usually we have a silver fern. Today we had a panda and a weta (a NZ bug)!

We stopped in Thames for a quick spot of lunch. Where we came across this decorated power substation - looked like an old library.

Arrived at our Auckland city apartment about 4.30pm. Luckily our journey into the city didn't have the same holdups as we had a few weeks ago. Parking is also right outside so very convenient.

With Skytower visible from where we're staying we decided to get a closer look. Only about 35 minutes walk to get there.

We went in and made some enquiries about entry for our visit tomorrow - early mornings and late afternoons are supposed to be quieter as most tourists haven't arrived or are making their way home. We'll be exploring the city all day so we'll see how we feel and what the weather's like.

Fingers crossed for a dry day.
