After lunch it was cooling off so I managed to drag Ian out for our daily walk. Well, we are aiming to do our 10,000 daily steps and it would be great to keep going at it.
Regular readers probably know how we love finding treasures. Well today putting our rubbish out in the bin we came across a new hessian bag that had been used to carry some bottles to the bin - an ideal shopping bag while we're here. All it needed was a bit of a clean and after drying out overnight it'll be ready for use😁.
Our walked took us straight down to the seafront which was teaming with locals probably as it's a Sunday. Although we stumbled across a Greek restaurant which was absolutely heaving with customers and many were queuing to get in. We'll definitely have to eat there as it's so popular with the locals it must be good. Although if we go I'll have to put on more layers as I felt decidedly underdressed in my shorts and vest top whilst they were in their winter woolies😀.
Ayia Napa has to be the sculpture centre in Cyprus with the number displayed around the town and outskirts. Although some are a bit naff.
Others are very artistic. This one of Icarus. Or maybe it should be The Angel of the South?
We took the coast walkway all the way to Nissi beach. On route we passed MUSAD or the Museum of Underwater Sculptures Ayia Napa - I knew it was THE place to come to for sculptures. This time of year we won't be looking at them though as the sea temperature is not warm enough for snorkelling yet (for me).
We passed a lovely bay that didn't seem to have suffered from the storms as many others have. Always seems odd to see the beaches so desserted on a lovely hot day. At home in the temperatures we're having they'd be packed.
Vathia Gonia beach - a gorgeous sandy beach
A heap of caterpillars - found on the side of the beach. We've got no idea how they got there as there wasn't any greenery nearby.
We returned to the apartment having managed to walk nearly another 15k steps. With a good view and pleasant weather you don't realise how easily the steps add up 😊.
