We also woke to an email advising us of our flight home being cancelled! After several phone calls it looks like we're having to stay an extra day. Just got to extend car hire and accomodation. All part of life's rich pattern. Plenty of time to sort it out.
First stop on our walk this morning was to the tourist information centre where we stocked up on maps and info on places to visit. The manager was also telling us that he'd never seen rain like it in his lifetime so a real weather event for the island.
Afterwards we dodged the town's clear up operation with pavements being hosed down and roadworks back in progress on our route to the aqueduct.
A Roman structure
We found another route back to the seafront. A bit surprised at what we found up a hill on the side of the road.
Down at the harbour we admired some of the town's sculptures and stopped for a cuppa with the local birdlife joining in.
After lunch, Heinz soup for me (well got 7 tins left), we headed off on another walk. This time to the Sculpture and Cactus park. On the way we passed the fire brigade pumping out an underground car park with submerged vehicles - they're certainly being kept busy with the clean up operation.
Hundreds of sculptures dotted about the park
Reminded me of a similar wood carving in Wellington, New Zealand that we have a photo of the children standing by when they were younger
It was threatening rain so we headed back to the apartment to keep dry. Hopefully we'll have a dry day tomorrow and we might get some sun.
