15th August Dolphins into Aberdovey

Well what a day for dolphins. Going across Cardigan Bay to Aberdovey we saw about 5 lots of dolphins playing around in the distance and then about an hour from Aberdovey we had two dolphins playing in our bow wave for a good 15-20 minutes.

                   Our dolphin duo

We managed to have a bit of a sail and avoided all the thunderstorms that we're all on yellow alert for. As we arrived at low tide we anchored just off the channel to wait for an hour for the water height to increase.

Time for dinner while waiting for the water

Ian than carefully made our way up the channel and we've picked up a visitor's buoy but not without hazards. I managed to get a fish hook in my finger as there was a load of line and hooks around the mooring line. I managed to hook the line with the boat hook and as I grabbed the line got a hook in my finger. A definite ouch 😬. Ian got our emergency knife and managed to cut the line and release me from the mooring line before we managed to secure Anya safely to it.

Luckily it wasn't a barbed hook but getting it out was not something I'd like to repeat in a hurry.

              Top right the culprit!

Once we were secured Ian got some pliers and managed to remove the hooks and line so no one else gets hurt. Not really sure how it got there.

Tomorrow as it's a Spring tide it's the highest height it'll be for a fortnight. The plan is to get Anya into the boatyard across the river from where we're moored up a shallow channel on the morning high tide. We'll then lift her out until we're ready to go sailing again.

We've sailed or motorsailed 500 miles in 7 weeks from Milford Haven across to Wexford, up the east coast of Ireland to Strangford Lough, across to the Isle of Man, back down to Holyhead and finally to Aberdovey.
