25th July Geocaching for the day

Still wind bound so spent the afternoon Geocaching. For those of you who don't know what it is, it's basically a sort of treasure hunt where you have a clue for a hidden cache. These can be tiny pots with a piece of paper to record your find or a big tub with treasure that you can swap.

There were 3 in our area with one literally a stone's throw from where we're moored. We managed to find that fairly quickly so we recorded our find and put it back for the next person to find.

                        Our first find

We had a good walk as the second one took us along the river and the third up the hill to the train station.

The second one stumped us as we found the location from the clues but could not find the cache. However, looking on the activity log we weren't the only ones unable to find it so it might have been misplaced.

The third one Ian found. In the train station car park at the coordinates was a magnetic bottle top stuck behind a post, with the recording paper neatly folded in it - it's amazing what's used for the 'treasure'.

Our climb back on board when the tide is out

Back on board we've had a huge fish and chip dinner and been planning our next few days sailing. Due to set off mid morning to get out of the River Boyne with enough water and then enter Carlingford Lough on a rising tide.
