We started the morning by going off on a sightseeing walk on the other side of the river. First walking along the river to get a view of Anya from the other side.
Then we headed up loads of steps to the top of a hill, overlooking Drogheda, where Millmount mound with a Martello tower on top is situated. Not open today but there were some good views over the town.
We pottered along the river and spotted a queue at a local garage - not surprised at the price they were advertising fuel.
By the time we'd had a coffee and crossed the bridge the queue had gone. Probably because the price had shot up!
We headed back as the grey clouds started to gather and quickly got the awning up. Just in time for the first downpour of the day.
After about half an hour it was blue sky and sunshine so we took the awning down. Not a good idea as we had to soon put it back up. At one stage we were singing the okeykokey as the awning was going up and down so frequently - "put the awning up and take it down, up, down, up, down and turn around!!"
I called mum as I normally do in the evening and had to go in the boat as the noise of the rain on the awning was so loud. Like camping!
The weather is unfortunately not any more conducive for sailing to Carlingford Lough tomorrow - Force 8 !!! very strong winds and rough seas. We're definitely staying put for another day 😄. We're more force 1-5 sailors with calm/moderate seas.
