We couldn't leave before as we needed a rising tide to help with the tidal flow to Drogheda.  Additionally the harbour master advised us not to enter the River Boyne until after 4pm because of the sand bar.
On entering the river we then had to navigate up river using a combination of brick turrets and markers. Seal were sunbathing on the mud banks with oyster catchers, curlew and heron wading about in the shallows.
The trip up to Drogheda is 7km. Once under the viaduct we could moor on Fiddle Case Pier, near the centre of town.
Forecast is for a bit of a breezy few days but we're all secure here well out of the way of strong winds. Also we have the advantage of a town nearby so we'll probably be off sightseeing tomorrow.
