So as soon as we were awake it was engine on and ready to head to the nearest pumping station at Kings Wood Junction. Unfortunately in order to get on our way we had to turn the boat in an area that wasn't wide enough for us to do so. This meant a combination of reversing and towing the boat back to a winding/turning hole.
Back through Shrewley tunnel. Fairly short but very wet, as water poured through the tunnel ceiling at some points.
We had to navigate around a canoe that was across the canal. The rear of the boat hadn't been secured properly.
Not the easiest thing to operate but after a few phone calls to the Canal Association the crew got it working.
Back on board with empty tanks we had a series of locks to get through before this evening's stop. However the weather was all over the place. One minute we were slapping on sun cream and taking off layers and the next it was thunder, lightening and torrential rain. Having been caught in a downpour mid lock we pulled over for a dry out and lunch stop. Quite amazing to see steam coming off the ropes when the sun came out after all the rain.
Anyway, having decided on a quiet day we moored alongside a pub near to Rob. Dinner out and another catch up with my brother 😊.
Tomorrow we head south towards Stratford upon Avon. Loads of locks to go!
