We have found our stops to be quite entertaining as we have to hunt out baby change facilities. Some are well equipped and even have mini toilets and tiny wash hand baisins (baby provided for size comparison!!).
Others have signs indicating a baby change table (usually a fold down affair attached to the wall) and then you find there's just a few holes in the wall to show you where it used to be!!
With a very active baby wanting to roll all the time it's been a challenge as there's even no space in the boot to use it as a changing area!
Our trip has generally been pretty event free. However, I was driving on the Milau leg of our journey, which involves a windy, steep road down into the valley. It was definitely an ear popping leg. Unfortunately my ears didn't!! I currently feel like I'm hearing through a very thick layer of cotton wool or I'm underwater. So far no amount of yawning, swallowing, chewing or nose blowing has cleared the problem. Hopefully it'll resolve itself overnight as I'm sure I'm shouting!
Anyway we eventually crossed the French/Spanish border at about 6pm with the temperature guage reading 26C - perfect weather conditions.
The only problem with coming this time of year is that it's more popular. Ian managed to find a spot near the apartment to enable us to unload (2 trolley loads - well we have brought 2 mattresses with us for the bunk beds, a small shelving unit we're delivering for our Kent friends who have a house not far from us up in the hills, a pram, plus lots of baby bits). Unfortunately as Amy and I headed out to Mercadona for a food shop this meant I would have to find a parking space when we returned.
On our return on the first attempt I had to unload Amy with the shopping before heading off on several circuits of the nearby streets to try and find a spot. Probably about third time round I struck gold with a space directly below our apartment. It was a tight fit but I eventually got Max in it with about 6 inches to spare at the back and front. A few hours later we spotted a bit of car movement. Ian whipped out to gain a bit of space as it would've been quite a manoeuvre to get out.
One of the things we brought along with us on this visit is some new mozzie tents. Definitely needed as Amy was nibbled within seconds of arriving. So it was action stations to take mozzie avoidance procedures. We frantically got the spray out and liberally applied it, lit our citronella candles and plugged in mozzie zappers. The tents we hope will be an asset - photos tomorrow as it was getting too dark to take pictures as baby was sleeping (in the travel cot mozzie tent) while we sorted them out.
As it's getting a bit late I'll explain more about them in the morning and hopefully have some positive feedback as well 🤞🏼.
