1 May It's a Scorcher

A real scorcher today as records are broken for the hottest start to May - 29.3C in London. It was pretty hot with us in Wales as we packed up ready to start our way north.

It was another record as we started on our journey towards Aberystwyth, which takes us on a single track road for about the first ten minutes of our route. Usually we're unlucky if we meet one vehicle coming the other way as it means one driver having to reverse to find a suitable spot to allow safe passing. Today we met six cars and a tractor!!! Lots of interesting manoeuvres made by some drivers who seemed to go into panic mode as they approached us. Fortunately we made our way on to the main road unscathed.

The rest of our drive was fairly straightforward as we made our way after Aberystwyth over hills and through Welsh valleys. Loads of Red Kites flying and swooping about - it's always a really good spot to see them.

On arrival at Mum's it was still hot so it was ice creams out in the garden.

However, as the afternoon went on the skies started to get darker and then the rumbles of thunder commenced. It wasn't much later that the lightening started as well. So we hot footed inside as the rain started but it wasn't the downpour I thought we might have. A bit of a smattering so enough to make the windows slightly wet.

Anyway we're now ensconced in the dry, watching Part 2 of Genius - watching who wants to be a zombie!!
