First we went up and did a huge load of our washing, once we had a bit of help to get the token accepted by the machine. If you've read blogs of our adventures whilst sailing you'll know that I have more of a stainless steel touch than a Midas touch when it comes to washing machines and tumble dryers! Anyway the washing cycle was just long enough for us to be able to walk to the OL, have a coffee and get back just as the washing was in it's last minute of the cycle. Then it was a tumble cycle and we were all done.
Back at the van we made a start on washing the outside of the van. Warm enough to get on our swimwear although I had my shorts on - I don't think the neighbours are quite prepared for my sylph like body wielding a soapy brush 😀.
After our energetic efforts removing the lichen, green and grime we chilled out this afternoon. While I was outside reading I could hear the gentle (!) snoring of Ian having a well earned nap inside.
Late afternoon we headed up to New Quay for fish and chips and a bit of dolphin spotting. An absolutely glass like sea but no dolphins.
We did however have a van to watch as the tide gradually creeped up the beach. It was a 'spot the owner' but no one seemed to look in the least worried about their van going under water.
Fortunately, with probably inches to spare, one of the dolphin spotting boats came in and a crew member came racing over to move it. To start off with it seemed like the wheels had got stuck in the sand but luckily he managed to get the van going to move it away from danger.
We were all prepared to watch it go beneath the waves - bringing back memories of being at Dymchurch beach and watching a transit van being lost under the waves. Quite a sight.
This evening was a lovely warm walk back. I can't quite believe it's only April (well the last knockings of it). Best to enjoy it while we have it.
