27 April Tree Discussion

Nothing much happening today as we enjoyed a relaxing Sunday.

A mixture of international rugby (Ian), reading outside (me), going for a walk, reading the papers and having a rather delicious roast chicken for our Sunday dinner.

On our way back to the van we pass a tree that is so nearly over. It seems to be a thing around here that trees were planted on the top of banks which form the perimeter of many fields. However, noticeably this year we've seen loads of huge trees that appear to have just toppled over. We had quite a lengthy discussion on our return on whether it's as a result of shallow roots, because the trees are planted in rocky banks, the age of the trees or an increase in the wind strength or number of storms. I think we decided it's probably  a combination! We'll just have to keep an eye on the outcome of this one which fortunately isn't leaning over the road.

Anyway the forecast keeps showing an improvement in heat and sunshine but so far it's not appeared. I did sit outside to read this morning but having a rug on my knees isn't quite what I'm looking for. We can but hope for an improvement tomorrow.
