Suitably equipped for any eventuality (rain mostly as you can never rely on weather forecast as we've recently discovered) we took the beach route to New Quay.
There's been a recent foray of jellyfish in the bay. Fortunately for the majority of holiday makers they didn't affect the main New Quay bay. They were huge - a good dinner plate size with some meaty tentacles.
It's been ideal dolphin spotting conditions today with a flat, calm sea. There were about 3 out today playing in the bow wave of the RNLI boat out on a training exercise.
We watched the RNLI boat coming in to be collected on the trailer.
Once on the trailer the mini bulldozer tows it round to the lifeboat slip ready for launching next time. Quite an event to watch. Reminded us of when we were moored in Ilfracombe harbour for about a week, due to bad weather, and a similar lifeboat was launched every day to go on rescue missions. How time has flown by since we were sailing.
This afternoon we were pleased to have the Grounds Maintenance Manager come and visit. He came to check out the grass outside of the van which resembles a building site since the removal of a small building which has been immediately outside the van for years. He was very positive and says we'll be expecting the area to be raked over, levelled and more grass seed thrown about. We'll wait and see what it's like when we return after this trip here.
The little cardigan has been finished but as I forgot to bring my darning needle I can't yet dew it up or put buttons on. We'll have to drive over to Aberaeron to the knitting shop to get one. Maybe tomorrow.
