23 April Playing Detective

Firstly an apology as I've just noticed that yesterday's blog hadn't loaded so you've got two to read today. The signal is a bit rubbish at the van, unlike last year when it was brilliant. So fingers crossed that it now loads ok.

Overnight we had the rain again but thankfully it's stayed dry all day as we went out and played detective.

Last night Mum mentioned that her old university room mate lived in nearby Newcastle Emlyn. Unfortunately she's been unable to make contact this year so wondered if she was still with us. She knew that her husband had died several years ago and was buried in the town's churchyard and suggested that if we were in the vicinity to check out if she'd joined him.

So with nothing else planned for the day we took ourselves off to Newcastle Emlyn where we've been previously but couldn't remember much about it.

Despite a good look around the graveyard of Holy Trinity church we were unsuccessful in finding any grave relating to Mum's old roommate. With our detective work cut short we took a walk around Newcastle Emlyn, mostly in search of the brownie shop. Unfortunately this had closed down so no brownies either!

We plumped for a coffee in a riverside cafe instead before we continued our mosie around the town.

With soany craft shops in the town it wasn't surprising to see the post box decorated. Could be a book worm or the Hungry Caterpillar.

The entrance to the Newcastle Emlyn castle ruin has been decorated with a weaved dragon. They're certainly very creative in this area with huge cardigans and nifty dragons.

We took our walk over the bridge of the River Teifi before wending our way back to the car. Definitely a lovely trip out discovering more of the Welsh countryside and creativity. Back to my own hub of creations with the small cardigan I'm currently knitting nearing completion.
