After waving off Amy and family we took ourselves off for a walk in the sunshine.
Unfortunately the sunshine soon turned to a slight smattering of rain which turned into a deluge!! We knew it was getting bad as we walked up the final part of the hill and turned into the main caravan site. Now if you've ever stayed in a van when it rains it's got a definite noise. Akin to being in a garden shed when it rains as the drops hit a corrugated/metal roof.
When the rain sweeps in you can actually hear the sound of rain getting closer as the rain belts down on the roofs. We could hear it getting ominously louder as the rain gathered pace towards us. All thoughts of getting into any sort of shelter were decimated as the rain hurled down and we stoically marched on to the entrance to the arcade, our only nearby source of shelter.
One sure sign of being really drenched is when the rain gets through to your skull. A light smattering of rain just dampens your hair. A downpour is enough to get the shampoo out and have enough rain to give it a rinse!
As you can see Ian wasn't impressed at getting wet - this is after we'd spent time trying to dry off under the hand dryers in the loos 🤣.
We were definitely very squelchy as we eventually made our way to the Owner's Lounge for a much needed cuppa and heat. My jumper was soaked through, as was my shirt underneath. Luckily no soggy knickers as the rain was hitting us face on. Just very waterlogged shorts' legs on the front. By the time it came to walking back to the van the sun was out so we were probably steaming as we gradually dried out.
Lovely to spot the bluebells on our walk back. No snowdrops or daffodils spotted as I expect they've already flowered.
Today is apparently a tea drinker's celebration. A good excuse to have a cup of PG Tips and a hot cross bun this afternoon while we dried out.
Did you know that PG Tips was originally a digestive tea to aid digestion before eating food or 'pre-ges-tea'. And Tips refers to the tips of the tea used in it's blend. This was then shortened to "PG"? Fun fact for today!
