16 April Off to Wales

Basically most of today has been spent driving to the van in Wales.

The girls were on tour so we had the addition of the requirements of the little one. What has previously been a quick stop at the service station for a cuppa and a bite to eat is now a mission to find baby changing facilities and to get junior to drink on our schedule! It all added to the adventure.

About an hour left in our journey it started to get dark, the rain commenced and the dreaded 20mph restrictions came into force as we drove through the Welsh villages. Much easier to drive at that speed in Rolo which has a top speed of about 60mph. In Max, with a more powerful engine, it was definitely in second gear.

Anyway we arrived at the van without any hitches. I did wonder if the code to the barrier had changed this year - it hadn't! Then while Amy waited in the car I opened up and went in to turn on the electrics. They didn't!

After dragging Amy in and with us both armed with phone torches we checked that I hadn't done something stupid like turn it off. I hadn't!

This then called for help from the electrical support help line (Freddie back in Kent). This confirmed we had been doing the right thing on the inside so I went to check the outside meter box. It looked like it had tripped so a call was made to security who came out to unlock the box and get us powered up.

Then it was all systems go to get heaters on, unload the car, build the travel cot and get ourselves sorted. With mugs of hot chocolate and thick blankets we're all cosy and ready for a good night's kip.
