17 August A Roundabout Route

A jungle start to the day as my alarm has birds chirping and monkey noises to bring me to my senses. Then it was stuffing duvet and pillows into a vacuum bag, emptying and cleaning the fridge and last minute checks that cupboards were empty before turning off water and gas and putting the garden furniture in the kitchen as part of our shut down procedures.

With Rolo packed we left at 8.30am only to stop a few minutes down the road when we had a warning light come on. A brake light wasn't functioning.

We unloaded the boot expecting to be able to access the lights from inside but then found out it had to be unscrewed from the outside. With our mini tool kit coming in handy and spare bulbs in the glove box (you have to have them as a legal requirement driving through France and Spain) we were soon on the way again.

Breakfast down the road from the railway station and then Ian was dropped off at Carmarthen station (not many rail lines in Wales so finding a rail route to Totnes for Ian was a bit of a challenge). This meant just over a 2 hour journey back to Mum and Dad's.

Lovely to catch up with everyone and my brother who came over to see Mum and Dad for the afternoon. The cream cakes and Mum's lemon cake for tea were also rather yummy 😄.

Hopefully time tomorrow to catch up with my sister before I drive up to Scotland on Monday - all go!!
