12 August Easy Morning, RNLI Evening

With heavy rain overnight (according to Ian as I slept through it all) the morning was a bit slow in clearing. Last night's forecast for high temperatures didn't seem to come to fruition here until late morning when the sun eventually broke through and the blue skies surfaced.

While I was taking it easy on my comfy chair with my latest read Ian tackled the weeds. They scratch on the back of the van when there's a breeze and get a bit annoying at night time.

We decided that we'd have a lazy morning as late afternoon we planned to make our way over to New Quay beach where the RNLI were doing a life boat exercise.

6pm on the dot the life boat was being launched.

Once out of the doors the aerials and wind shield were raised, having been flat packed to get through the door. The boat is manoeuvred down the causeway on a caterpillar trailer by a tractor at the back.

The tractor is semi submersible as it pushes the boat out into deep enough water to be launched.

As it was nearly low tide it ended up being pushed right round the end of the harbour wall before it was launched.

And then it was off!

We topped off the evening by treating ourselves to pie and chips before taking the beach route back to the van.

We found an abandoned bucket and spade set on our way. No one about so we're recycling it.

By the time we got to Cei Bach beach the sun was setting. A lovely calm sea but no dolphins tonight. Not seen any for a few days. Maybe more luck tomorrow.
