27th March Furthest Southern Point in Asia

First challenge of the day was looking for breakfast! Especially when you don't fancy a bowl of noodles or some odd looking type of meat. We stumbled across a bread shop which made some dough sticks, a bit like churtos that we get in Spain. So sprinkled in sugar, along with some yogurt, they did the job.

For our exploring today we ended up going to the small island of Sentosa, just across a bridge, south of Singapore. Ian and I hadn't even realised that it was there so it seemed a good place to visit as it has Singapore's main beaches.

Normally there's a fee to enter the island if you go on public transport or drive. However, we found that by enjoying the walk across the boardwalk you don't pay anything. We always like a bargain and a good walk. Even better was the free monorail back at the end of the day.

Sentosa has the Universal Studios in the northern part of the island. We did consider having a day pass but decided to spend of time continuing to look round the island.

They certainly take their sensory gardens very seriously over here. I could hardly see Ian through the water mist😄.

Definately lost Freddie and Amy - it was a lovely cooling experience in the hot and humid conditions.

Heading up to a viewing point the stairs were impressively decorated.

At the top there were cable cars, viewing platforms, 360° panoramic pods 78m up and what looked like a ski lift.

The ski lift took people who were going in a luge back up the hill for another go.

We had 4 goes!

In his element.

Having fun.

A bit of a competition going on.

A bit more sedate.

We then went off in search of the most southern point of Asia. This involved a walk across a very swingy, swing bridge to another island. Definitely not good for my sea legs.

View from Palawan island across to Sentosa and Palawan beach.

Found it!

We were starting to flag in the 30C + heat so we decided to get the monorail back to Singapore and then the underground to our hotel. A much needed chill in the air conditioning was required before going in search of dinner.

We returned to a restaurant Ian and I went to last time we were here. Everyone managed pretty well with their chop sticks.

The schezchan chicken was supposed to be mild. On the left is all the chillies we picked out of the dish. We had tingly lips at the end!

Our evening continued with a trip over to see the Garden in the Bay light show. It's a combination of classical music and lights that takes place every night - all very effective.

Marina Bay Hotel - we'll be going up there tomorrow to see the views. We'll also be doing a return trip to the Gardens as there's loads to see in the area.
