14th January Second Day of Moving

This morning we were in discovery mode as the shower and washing machine were put into action. The shower took a while to work out (well, for me it did). I stood in the bath, pushed the button and waited for the shower to start. Nothing! After more prooding of the button, without even a drip of water being produced, I decided that there was obviously another switch that I had omitted to press.

Pyjamas and slippers back on and then in search of the elusive switch. Luckily it was just outside the door! One large button (for the shower), above 2 smaller, normal sized switches (one for the light which I had been using and one for the extractor fan, which I also hadn't realised needed pressing as well). Anyway with the elusive control button pushed I was now able to enjoy a shower.

Now squeaky clean I was able to report that the shower was fully functional and could tuck into breakfast. Then the work started...

The room Peter had earmarked as his office was originally the play room, which had crash mat style foam tiles (I assume to avoid toddler damage). These were removed exposing the concrete floor so our first job was a trip to B&Q for flooring. Fortunately there was a 4for3 sale on laminate flooring and 10% off on underlays. Peter chose a grey wood effect laminate which when we got back is a pretty good match with the hall flooring.

In between defrosting the deep freeze which was left pretty iced up, unpacking boxes and coming across a leakage of washing liquid which had got everywhere 😬, Ian and Scott had made a return trip in the van to the tip to get rid of unwanted furniture and collect the last few bits from the flat.

Meanwhile we got on with getting the underlay down.

Then we made a start on building furniture.

Unfortunately, laying the laminate is a tomorrow job as we're all a bit pooped, so Peter will have to work in the kitchen. The van has to be returned first thing in the morning and then Ian and I can get into DIY mode.
