15th January DIY Champions

-5°C this morning up here in sunny Scotland 🥶! No snow but plenty of ice.

Early breakfast then we were on our way to return the van. We looked at the travel time and realised that a normal 30 minute journey had increased to 47 minutes with slow traffic. So we got on our way pronto! Fortunately we still managed to get to the van hire place by the allotted time of 9am. 

I'd driven Max, following Ian who had GPS, (my phone was back with Peter so he could hotspot from my phone whilst waiting for the internet connection to be connected sometime today), not always easy despite following a large van. After only one episode of me being stuck at the lights and us going round a roundabout twice it was a straightforward journey.

On returning to Peter's and finding the internet still not connected I looked up instructions for connecting. Following the instructions on good old YouTube I worked out that the modem wasn't plugged in! This seems to be a bit of a themed today 😅. Peter and I like to follow instructions and go step by step. Ian doesn't work this way!

First DIY project was getting the laminate flooring laid. Peter and Ian working as a team, using the upsidedown laundry basket as a low work bench. Peter would sit on the end of a laminate slat while Ian sawed it to length.

Nearly done.

Then it was building a desk unit for a work station.

A very pleased Peter now his room is set up and his piano keyboard ready for action. The kitchen is also shipshape so everything is starting to take shape.

Not sure of our plans tomorrow but hopefully it won't be such a cold start.
