12th January In Scotland

Normally I would be posting a picture of the Angel of the North, as we tend to take the east coast route on our journey north. Today, however, we were sent on the A66, M8 route Glasgow direction as it cut at least 30 minutes off our travel time. A bit different for us going on the cross country route, stopping in Penrith for a cuppa and south of Gretna for lunch.

This time we enjoyed seeing deer and highland cows as we drove through the open snow gates with snow topped mountains in the distance. Usually we have the North Sea on our right as we head north towards Berwick.

Last night's stop over in Peterborough meant that we finished our drive in day light, arriving at our Dunfermline hotel by 4pm. Time for a cuppa and a read (latest Jack Reacher book - Christmas present that I've been saving) before meeting up with Peter and Scott for dinner.

Our hotel bathroom is a bit like going in a nightclub 😄.

Popped into Asda and it's wall to wall Easter eggs. I do like a creme egg but January seems a bit early to be flogging them already. I'll now have to look out for hot cross buns as they'll surely be on sale as well.

A Rocky Horror Sundae went down a treat in nearby Harvesters this evening. We've been hearing all about preparations for tomorrow's move. Sounds very organised and with Ian as chief driver and me as assistant we'll be reporting for duty at 9am. So we'll have to make sure we take full advantage of our inclusive breakfast before collecting the van. A full English perhaps? 🤔
Edit: just been told by Peter that it'll be a full Scottish 😅
