Today our Friends in the Bay lunch was at a fabulous Catalonian restaurant called La Vinya based on the main road into Garriguella. Despite many people, who like ourselves are Brexit 90 dayers having already returned to the UK, there were 39 people at the event.
We had another great social with some very tasty food. Meeting more new friends with some interesting back stories. Many are now Spanish residents so these lunches give them the opportunity for a bit of English speaking conversation and English humour (apparently the Catalonians don't get English humour). This time we met a chap who grows olives and vines so we learnt about the intricacies of a co-operative. Ian sat opposite a lady who has owned horses for years and used to go carriage racing (similar to Prince Philip), and a couple who have just sold up their restaurant in Roses after 17 years and are now retired.
Similarly to last time the meal was extended by chatter so by the time conversation had finished it was gone 6pm. We're really enjoying these meal times! It'll be bowling next Wednesday so we look forward to meeting up with many from today and meeting others as you just can't meet everyone at a sit down event. Our social group is gradually extending and we've also been recommended some other places to visit.
We might go off on a trip to one tomorrow.
