The beach was desserted at 10am and all was quiet, other than the gentle lapping of the waves on the sand.
The sun was just starting to burn its way through the clouds as we approached Roses. We ended up having a meander through the lanes looking in the variety of gift shops selling their Christmas wares.
The council have been putting up their Christmas decorations. We found this huge bauble so we'll have to go back one evening to see if the lights have been turned on yet. They weren't lit last weekend so maybe they wait until the end of the month.
We returned in time to put on our glad rags for lunch and meet up with Ian, John, Honey and Hugo (the dogs). It's worth pointing out that dogs are very welcome in restaurants, cafes and bars in Spain and it's not uncommon seeing them tucked under chairs waiting for food to be dropped.
As we are now out of season most hotels and the majority of restaurants and cafes are closed. This leaves us with Roco Cycling Cafe, on the sea front by the harbour, La Bola, a restaurant frequented by the locals, near our apartment where we often eat and Ca l'Adri we found serving a menu of the day but we'd not been to before.
As lunch doesn't tend to be served until about 1pm we checked out what was on offer and ended up choosing to eat at La Bola. Probably due to its more extensive menu and the fact that we know that you get a bottle of wine rather than just a glass with the menu of the day! We'll give Ca l'Adri a try out next week on our last day here.
We had a very leisurely lunch, with coffee back on the balcony. Ian and John were impressed with our view and enjoyed spotting the parachutists descend. All in all another relaxing day!
