15th November Bowling Champion

A warm but overcast day so it was off to see some Roman ruins. We drove to Sant Marti de Empuries, then took the sea front route walking south to L'Escala.

On our way we passed the extensive site of Roman ruins. We could've paid to actually go onto the site but we both felt that we'd done enough school trips imaging where the baths, dining rooms and underfloor heating were to not have to do it again.

Walking along we could see L'Escala in the distance.

Roses far in the distance.

We went to the Anchovy and Salt Museum - quite interesting to find out about the history of the trade. The museum loo was a bit of a challenge. I gave this one a miss as people on the cliff above were visible so surely that means they could see me! I used the disabled loo instead with a window not making the user so visible 😃.

In L'Escala we found the menu of the day quite interesting. I wonder how many goldfish make a meal🤔.

Local anchovy fishermen have to launch their boats by hand up and down the beach.

After we sampled a few local pastries with our coffees we pottered back to Rolo for our return drive. Back in time for a quick snack before we went out bowling with our Friends in the Bay group.

We had a great evening meeting more new people and my bowling was spectacular, if I say so myself! I ended up as the winning lady and was presented with a bottle of wine. Ian came in third out of the men so we did pretty well.

Tomorrow we have a lunch date so we'll have to get in an early walk as we'll probably be relaxing in the afternoon.
