Our lunch date with a group of English speaking people who live/holiday in the Bay of Roses was a 1pm meet for a 1.30pm start. And guess what time we finally finished? .... 6pm!!!!
The food at Hotel Aires de l'Emporda in Vilacolum was amazing. We had to send in our menu choices in advance - 2 starters (yes we were confused but we actually had 2), main and dessert with coffee and wine. It was delicious and a real treat as we don't usually enjoy such fine dining out here as we're usually cheap and cheerful 😄. There were 48 people with a mixture of Brits and Belgiums. The first people we met were from Ashford and a couple at our table were from near Sevenoaks - not far from where we live. Others on our table were from Jersey, Leeds and London and there were plenty of others that we hope to meet at next week's 10 pin bowling.
Then my main was sea bass and Ian had a duck paella with foie gras. Unfortunately I was tucking into my food before I realised I hadn't taken a snap. They were both absolutely yummy.
Ian had a selection of cheeses which he was told by the waiter had to be eaten from right to left. We think in order of sweet to sour.
There was plenty of conversation and wine ... more wine and conversation .... so our lunch finished by about 6pm and we got back by 6.30pm. Apparently it was the best attended lunch and the longest!
Now we're lolled out on the sofas letting our food settle. A very enjoyable lunch and we look forward to seeing what's in store for next month.
