29th September Local Sights

Well I'm pleased to report that we've now sorted out the mozzie situation. Our recent purchase of mozzie killer spray and a plug in mozzie repellent seems to have done the job. Ian sprayed the rooms liberally and closed doors to keep any escaping mozzie from making a swift departure - no 'zzzing' overnight 🥳.

Today we decided to have a trip out but stayed local. There is a viewing point above Roses that I spotted whilst looking at local geocache points so thought that was a good spot to go.  So we took Rolo in a spin up and round the circuitous route to get there.

Before we walked up to the viewing point Ian found a huge caterpillar on the road. Ian's foot gives you a sense of scale.

We identified it as a Spurge Hawk Moth (with the help of Google).

Some pretty impressive views across the bay. Good views of the mountain ranges as well.

View from the top before we found a geocache. Not the easiest to find but managed to locate it after spending some time rummaging around in the undergrowth, around trees and walls to unearth it.

We then jumped back in Rolo and drove to a castle ruins on a nearby hill, which we spotted from the viewing point.

Poblat Visigòtic del Puig Rom - some walls visible.

Another good viewing point.

It was starting to get a bit sweltering so we headed back for lunch and a quiet afternoon chilling on the balcony.

Saturday tomorrow so I have a feeling we'll be going to Empuriabrava 😁
