7th August A Bit of History

An update on the deer spotting yesterday. My Dad reckoned the small deer we saw were Muntjac and from a look at photos online we're inclined to agree🦌.

Anywsy, after bidding fond farewell to the dogs, cat and of course my brother πŸ˜€, Ian and I headed east in the direction of Telford for a bit of history. I'd mentioned to Mum some time back that I hadn't been to the Ironbridge so this was a perfect journey to go via it. With only about a 20 minutes detour on route to Mum and Dad we ended up parking on the non touristy side of the river.

After parking up and a short stroll, we walked across the bridge which is now toll free (you know how we love freebies πŸ˜…).

No carrying your pig over the bridge as it doesn't have to walk over to be charged just 'pass over'!

Heading across the River Severn into Ironbridge.

The world's first iron bridge completed in 1779.

We enjoyed a spot of lunch before continuing our journey and stopping off at Wenlock Priory, a medieval priory in Much Wenlock.

A pleasant walk around the priory grounds.

After our arrival at Mum and Dad's we were put straight to work on our long list of jobs. I've now got Mum reconnected with the outside world - she's not been receiving emails for the last couple of weeks. Getting Mum to remember her email password was the most challenging aspect πŸ˜€. Ian 'mended' the brand new mower - the mulcher plug was in so it stopped the mown grass going in the collection basket. All sorted by removing said plug, so Mum was merrily pushing the mower around to tackle the last week's growth.

Next job was planting their diamond wedding anniversary rose bush that's been by the front door for nearly a year! Then it was a lavender bush to go in. It was a bit like Time Team everytime there was a scraping noise. I kept thinking we were about to uncover a Roman mosaic πŸ˜….

Then Mum and I took her dog for a walk around the village before we were back for tea. With most chores completed, we (or should I really say Ian) are just left with some hooks to go in the kitchen cupboard. They can be done in the morning, along with anything else that Mum thinks of before we go back to the van.
