Anyway, after a damp start Ian suggested a bit of hedge trimming. Appropriately armed with the step ladders and a suitable lopping instrument he proceeded to give the wild looking greenery creeping over the meter box a good hair cut.
A bit on the wild side. It had grown to such a degree that the bathroom was getting very dark during daylight hours, as it was blocking out the light (I hesitate to say sunlight as we've not seen much of that anyway).
I contributed to the gardening effort by being in charge of getting rid of the off cuts, armed in my rather large gardening gloves which doubled up as hand warmers as it was a bit cool this morning. It all got chucked behind the van where it will mulch down over time. I also provided ballast to help balance the ladder when Ian was teetering about on it when reaching on to the roof area. The greenery is now looking pretty neat.
With the weather much improved this afternoon we took Rolo for a spin into Aberaeon where I bought wool for my crochet project and deciding against buying caster sugar at £4.35 a kg bag!! I think someone's having a laugh! I don't need sugar that desperately so have put off making peanut cookies until we manage our Tesco shop.
I've spent much of this evening looking at YouTube tutorials on the crochet basics and have made a start - after a few trial runs. Unfortunately I started off crocheting too tightly which made the rows a bit curved!
This is what I'm aiming for. So far I've completed about 3 rows after undoing it all about 4 times to get a good tension. Let's see if I get anywhere near the same thing. If it was a knitting pattern I'd be very confident but being crochet at the moment I'd go for a 50:50 as to whether it's going to resemble what's in the picture 😅.
Anyway perfect weather for a bit of crochet at the mo, but hopefully the forecast is looking to improve for a few days - whoopee! I think we're off on a jaunt tomorrow to Carmarthen for the day.
