This morning we were woken to the Anton du Beke team of tap dancing seagulls on the roof!
Next door were woken up to the security guard, who does a regular drive round the site, knocking on their door. He regretfully had to inform them that they'd left their car window open all night. One guess as to what sort of weather we had overnight. Needless to say the vocabulary was a bit colourful as the culprit for leaving the window open was being identified. Someone's going to have to sit on the wet seat today ๐
.
We decided to have a bit of a excursion today so sandwiches were made and a picnic packed. I worked out the route to a National Trust property and we headed off in Rolo to the Dolaucothi Gold mines the other side of Lampeter. I'd visited here several years ago with the children but Ian hadn't - he must've been sailing.
Our route took us a bit cross country - Ian was having a field day laughing at my route as we ended up on narrow roads with grass growing down the middle. At least they had tarmac!
Unfortunately when we arrived all the tours to go underground for the mines were fully booked but we enjoyed our picnic before investigating the site of the mines.
Despite not getting on the mine tour we took a walking tour around the area and came across a mine entrance.
Despite not getting on the tour we had a good look around and can always make a tour booking and return in the next week or so. Definitely a good place to visit if you book in advance ๐.
Our return journey took us back on a slightly different route but still narrow. We met a boy racer on the way back who screeched to a halt just in time to squeeze past. Glad we're in a small car.
Back at the van our neighbours have been out so not sure if they'll be returning later or whether it was a flying visit. Fingers crossed it's the later.
