We even chickened out of a walk up for a coffee and a read of the papers. As Rolo provided us with a guaranteed dry method of transport it seemed the best option 😀. Anyway when got there the big TV screen was set up to televise the England v Columbia women's football. Therefore we made the most of good seats to watch the match on a much larger screen in comparison to our small one back in the van. And we won so it was a good morning despite the weather.
With the unpredictability of the rain we abandoned thoughts of going on a half hour trip to Cardigan for the carnival, as it was likely to be a damp. Instead we opted for a short drive over to Aberaeon which was hosting a beer and cider festival. The yacht club seemed to be buzzing with drinkers trying out the wide variety of beverages available to sample.
Whilst in Aberaeon I had hoped to buy some wool for a crochet project - yes I'm going to give crocheting a try! Unfortunately the wool shop closed at 2pm and 2 other possible wool suppliers (charity shop and £1.20 + shop) didn't have the colours I wanted. I'm quite pleased as it gives me a good excuse to have another potter in Aberaeon next week (not so sure about Ian's level of excitement at doing another round of wool shops 😅).
After popping into the Royal Legion Hall, which had a craft fair and was selling homemade cakes, I decided that homemade scones would go down nicely this afternoon. So I made them when we got back as all necessary ingredients were kicking about in the cupboard.
Ready for a perfect late afternoon in the sporadic sunshine. Note to self ... must get clotted cream next time.
Tomorrow looks like a National Trust token day. With about 5 more vouchers to use by 25th we can get a few trips in over the next few weeks. Fingers crossed for some decent weather and a decision on where and when to go will be made in the morning.
