I headed straight to the opticians with the plan of immediately wearing my glasses to get used to them before I drove back. Unfortunately I should've checked their opening hours as they're closed on a Monday 😅. Oh well, best laid plans ....
To commiserate I popped into Greggs where I had an O2 Priority voucher for a free coffee and a Greggs app free birthday treat.
Anyway as I sat enjoying my cuppa an old lady asked me to keep her seat in the window while she got a cup of tea. She put her walking stick on the seat to reserve her spot and pottered off to the till. Luckily the lady who served her brought her cup over otherwise in her doddery state I think most of it would've gone on the floor.
And so began a lovely hour passing my time with this lovely lady (aged 83, widowed for 7 years) who was waiting for her coach (the bus stop was right outside Gregg's window). Unfortunately it transpired that she was on a day trip from Tenby (she couldn't initially remember where her hotel was but a process of elimination and 10 minutes to think about it and she remembered 😀) and knew she had to be back at the bus stop as the coach was leaving promptly but she couldn't remember what time it was leaving promptly at!!! She had also forgotten her watch and had left her itinerary back in her hotel room.
Sitting in the window she was hoping to spot others on her coach trip or failing that the coach (which she thought was blue and white!) stopping at the bus stop. So the poor dear spent money on a trip to Cardigan to basically sit in Greggs! Anyway, she was quite happy with her tea and the view out of the window and I said if she missed the coach I'd see her tomorrow as I would be back to collect my glasses. I must add that I did check out the local news in case it mentioned an OAP abandoned in Greggs in Cardigan or lost from a Tenby coach trip 😃.
As I was in Cardigan I had a good look around the shops that were open and headed back to the van for a late lunch. Then as the low tide wasn't until 7.15pm I thought I'd leave going on a beach walk until about 3pm. I ended up sitting on the beach and reading whilst waiting for the tide to go out enough to walk to New Quay. I had brought my binoculars so kept an eye on whether anyone was attempting to clamber around and with about 2 hours 30 minutes until low tide I could scramble over a few rocks and get there.
A lovely circular walk with a stop off for my normal cuppa and read of the daily paper. I'm getting quite used to a daily peramble - I just need to keep it up.
With today's trip a bit of a failure here's hoping tomorrow's will be more successful.
