22nd July Non Stop Rain

After listening to the rain bashing on the roof last night and this morning when I woke, I thought back to last Saturday. Now why would I do that? Well last Saturday was 15th July and St Swithin's Day. According to traditional folklore, whatever the weather is like on St Swithin's Day - whether rain or sunshine - it will continue for the next 40 days and 40 nights. And last Saturday I was sitting here listening to the rain on the roof while Wimbledon basked in sunshine! It did brighten up later on so dear chums we have another 32 days of this!!!

Anyway to avoid total boredom and going mad with the rain thrumming on the roof I headed to Carmarthen to watch the Barbie movie 😃. Mission Impossible and Oppenheimer are waiting until I see them with Ian.

On arriving and parking, as close as possible to the cinema, I squelched through the rain to get my free Costa birthday cake and a coffee. If you have the Costa app you can get a free cake the week of your birthday.

All set for the morning.

Well, as someone who had a Sindy doll, which must've been the British version of a Barbie, it was a fun film aimed more at the adult audience rather than little girls, which is why it's rated a 12 (under 12s have to be accompanied by an adult as it contains material unsuitable for under 12s). It does make you wonder if some parents actually look at film reviews or understand the rating system. It was like going to a pantomime where lots of jokes or comments can be interpreted one way by a child and totally differently by adults 😀.

By the end of the film you still feel a bit sorry for Ken and the final scene is probably a bit of a puzzle to the younger members of the audience (there was a packed cinema of quizzical under 12s with the parents laughing). Anyway back out into the drizzle I thought I'd see a bit of Carmarthen.

Found the castle but soon abandoned the idea of doing much investigation as it started to rain hard again.

So it was back to the car with the air drier aimed at my damp feet for the journey home to the van. Where I arrived to the scene of holiday makers unpacking cars and dashing about in the drizzle. It's definitely school holidays with a noticeable increase in the population on our small site.

If it's dry tomorrow I'll go up to the main site and I bet it'll definitely be busier 😃.
