The walk was timed to perfection as we managed to get all the way to New Quay without being rained on. It was actually fairly sunny.
We stopped on a bench overlooking the beach and admired the views with the rain clouds in the distance.
Having taken some pictures I picked up my phone that I'd placed on the bench next to me only to squash a wasp in the process. It obviously wasn't impressed so stung me on the inside of my middle finger. Not much pain but oh did it swell up!
We decided as it had swollen so much to go to the pharmacy to get some antihistamines so headed off towards it. Only the heavens opened and we had to take shelter in the 'Box of Delights' (not a chocolate shop but certainly retail heaven for female clothes and knick Knack shopping). Well because it was raining so hard we had to check out what was on offer - but only to pass the time (honestly) 😅. Pauline particularly enjoyed this shopping experience. Then we continued our journey up the hill to the pharmacy where we were given appropriate medication and advice to hopefully sort my now very swollen hand.
The other side of my hand was quite inflamed and by this stage I had sausage fingers with the skin feeling really tight.
We stopped for a cuppa in the Blue Bell on the recommendation of the pharmacy assistant. Now with the rain stopped and the sun out the sea almost looked Mediterranean.
Retail therapy complete we walked back to the van for a brief visit and then shot out in Rolo to Newcastle Emlyn. Here we met up with Sharon, who Pauline worked with years ago, and her husband Eric for chocolate brownies and a catch up.
Back after our afternoon tea Pauline was getting itchy to garden. So I let her loose on the weeds that needing pulling up. Nearly there!
This evening we drove up to New Quay site and walked in.
