Heading through Roses and following the coast road we parked up in the next bay ( Ian and I walked here a few weeks ago). Ian managed to squeeze Rolo into a tiny parking space by the beach and we then joined the coast path for a short walk to the next bay.
We got back to the apartment with time for me to make some lunch and Peter to repack his bag, to get it in without the need for carrying an extra bag. There is always that worry about getting on the plane, when travelling with just hand luggage, that they're going to say you can't take your lunch in an extra bag on board. You can always wear a coat you can't fit in your bag, but stuffing a baguette and a packet of crisps when wearing jeans and a sweatshirt could be a challenge!
Anyway Peter was successfully dropped off at the airport with ominous grey clouds overhead. We headed back, fully expecting him to let us know that he was boarding by the time we returned as the in coming flight was on time. Unfortunately Girona airport experienced a deluge of rain necessitating the runway to be cleared of water and delaying his take off. It was therefore a bit of a nail biting afternoon as he had to get another flight at Stansted. With about 20 minutes to get off his flight, through passport control, out of arrivals, back into departures, check in and security it was going to be a bit tight. However, someone was on Peter's side as his outgoing flight was also delayed. After his initial sprint he could take it easy. I was also very relieved 😅.
Ian and I managed to spend our afternoon sitting out on the balcony, before a swift return inside when we had the rain, and then preparing dinner. With 4 days to go before our return we are now at that stage of working our way through the fridge and freezer to use everything up. There is a bag of frozen vegetables that we did have all good intentions to use but was found lurking behind the last few ice creams and a couple of pork chops. So they'll now be chucked into every meal before we go. So a very veggie chilli and rice with veg for dinner 😀.
Tomorrow the weather is looking ok for the morning so it'll be our last Empuriabrava market until we return in September. My last €1 punnet of strawberries. We'll also pop into Lidl to stock up on Tinto for our return home 🍷.
