13th May Varied Weather

It's been a bit of an odd day weather wise. Overnight we've had rain and this morning it's been dry and windy, before a sporadically sunny and windy afternoon and a wet evening.

This morning we made our way over to Empuriabrava to get some strawberries at the market. With fewer stalls than normal because of the blustery conditions and many abandoning their sun awnings in the windy conditions, it looked a quite different market. Once down in the fruit and veg end of the market it became apparent from looking at what was on offer that the normal punnets of strawberries were not on sale. So I opted for a small punnet of raspberries and one of blueberries instead.

€1.50 for today's fruit bargain.

On our way back we topped up on fuel and grabbed a few items in the supermarket before noticing a warning sign on the dashboard. After stopping to investigate Ian worked out we had a front driving light failure and spotted a light bulb problem.

The light bulb had become unscrewed. Probably due to the vibrations caused by lumpy roads.

Ian realised after rummaging in our storage box that he didn't have the necessary tools to get to it so contacted Richard. Richard came over to help and between the two of them they managed to sort out the issue.

This evening we enjoyed a lovely meal with Richard at a  local restaurant we'd not been to before 'Moma Catalonia'. A family run establishment serving fresh, local produce - a fantastic mixed sea grill for me and Richard (hake, squid, langoustine, prawn, tuna, sole - yum), steak in Roquefort for Ian, followed by tiramisu and nougat ice cream and washed down by a crisp local white wine.

As we'd walked to the restaurant we were a bit surprised to realise in the 2.5 hours we'd been inside that it had been pouring with rain and was still precipitating as we left. As we hadn't been prepared for the inclement weather on our return trip a swift walk back was required. I also desperately needed dry slippers as my feet got a bit soggy in open toed sandals 😄.

We'll have to see what the morning brings us weatherwise. If it's dry we'll probably preamble up to Roses market (what am I going to do without a market fix?) and if it's wet we can make a start on a bit of a clean in preparation for leaving on Wednesday.
