We decided to go over to the airport in Empuriabrava where they do the parachuting. Knowing it was too windy for the real thing we thought the wind tunnel would be working to go and watch people there. Unfortunately during May it's only open at weekends so nothing to see. We went and had a potter by the canal instead.
Afterwards we took a detour to see if we could find a way to the beach opposite to our apartment but across the canal. Once we'd gone off road and Ian had negotiated Rolo through the pot holes we got there. About a 5 mile drive from the apartment. It would've been quicker to swim across the canal to get back 😅.
After lunch, as it was still blowing a strong wind, we drove over the hills towards Port Lliat where Salvador Dali used to live.
Ready for the sunny but windy weather. No chance of losing my hat with the chin strap securely fastened 😀.
We parked on the hill between Port Lliat and Cadaques and took the walk downhill into Cadaques first. After a potter around we headed back up and over the hill to where Dali's house is.
As we were fairly off the beaten track we took another road about 5 miles eastwards to where the lighthouse of Cap Creus is situated. The furthest easterly point of Spain. It was particularly windy as we walked round the lighthouse - nearly strong enough to lean back in!
After a cafe con leche in the little café, sitting in the sunshine and sheltered from the breeze, we motored back.
Tonight we ate out. Peter's night off from cooking 😀.
