9th April Sail Past

Another sunny start to the day so we decided to go for a walk to the Friary before we headed to the Sailing Club. Taking the footpaths where possible we ended up pottering around the Friary. No farmer's market today though - probably because it's Easter Sunday.

On our return journey we took a footpath around the back of the church. There's a lake out the back that we never knew was there!

Walking towards Aylesford church

Paul and Kate collected us after lunch and we drove over to Gravesend. There was a dinghy race first and then Ian and Paul went and helped another club member to sail their boat for sail past - the official start of the sailing season.

I was on meeting the VIPs duty - we had the mayor and his family down for a sail.

Canon fired to start the sailing

After everyone followed the Commodore sailing past the club it was all back ashore to toast in the new season and have a bit of grub. Very civilised.

Paul and Kate then joined us back at home for dinner and Tinto 🍷.

We're looking forward to more socialising tomorrow evening and I have a Monday morning walk if it's reasonably dry.
