I am not sure what happened to yesterday's blog as I wrote it and pressed the appropriate button to publish it. Unfortunately it appears that it didn't load properly. So you've got a double dose of Spanish escapades today 😄.
Today there's been a bit of DIY with Ian working on smoothing the bottom of the front door. It's been sticking when it gets to being nearly fully opened. A bit of sanding and wax has got it sorted.
We then went for a walk late morning but got waylaid by popping into see the agent we rent the apartment with. This, in conjunction with having to return for paperwork, delayed our start to the extent that it was lunch time. So we decided to have lunch before we made a change to our daily walk time. No idea where the morning went!
Anyway, I prepared lunch (salad, homemade coleslaw) and then started to put stuff out on the balcony table. I had put out the plates, cutlery some cheese and small packets of biscuits to go with the cheese, and had returned to collect the salad. I then heard a loud clump noise on the table.
A huge seagull had swooped down and snaffled a packet of cheese biscuits! It flew off across to the neighbouring roof where it made short shrift of the cellophane and had soon eaten them 😮. Ian was then put on guard duty!! It wasn't going to get a second chance.
After time to let our food settle we headed out on our postponed walk, taking a route avoiding the sea front as the in-shore wind was blowing a hoolie!
It was interesting walking along the roads we don't normally see and we discovered a few restaurants that we'd not normally come across. Although we reckon our normal restaurants down our end have better menus.
We decided to return along the sea front. With the wind now behind us so we avoided getting a face full of sand. There were loads of kite surfers on the sea and kite fliers out on the beach - very colourful.
The illegal traders were out on the prom again, but not for long, as the police made an appearance. They soon fled to the beach. We reckon the police do it for a bit of entertainment as it's quite funny seeing the traders scrabbling with their wears and leaping on to the beach.
Anyway we're off to a proper market tomorrow in Empuriabrava. I hope to get some strawberries as they were a good price last week.
