24th January Blue Lagoon

In case you were interested about our kettle yesterday, the one we had been using had been causing problems as it wouldn't stop once it started boiling. But we'd managed. Then yesterday it wouldn't even turn on. No worries we thought, there's a spare one in the cupboard. That was ok until we filled it up and it was emptying quicker out the side than we were filling it๐Ÿ˜…. So we messaged the apartment owner who kindly delivered another kettle to us. Now we have a fully working one ๐Ÿ˜.

Today we had a slow start but eventually went on a drive to see if we could locate a way up to Cape Greco view point. Unfortunately it wasn't to be, as the roads are still in too much of a state. Instead we found the Blue Lagoon.

No beach but an incredible blue colour. Very popular with the tourists on the boat trips that stop here to swim.

Today it was too cold and breezy even to think of a swim. There was additionally quite a lot of debris floating around that didn't make the lagoon as picturesque as it normally is.

On our return drive we took a side road uphill to where we could spot a large wooden cross on the hill. We discovered Agios Epiphanios, a Greek Orthodox church. Very quaint.

As our step count was on the very low side we went out for a late afternoon walk down through the town. Taking a different route towards the seafront we ended up walking through the main night club centre - a tad on the tacky side. But I'm sure it's lovely when you're young and drunk ๐Ÿ˜€.

We ended up cutting back on the sea front, spotting new things on our walk.

Another fishing boat left lying around. Looks quite pretty decorating the sea front.

As we hadn't quite hit our 10,000 step target I ended up walking up and down the apartment, much to Ian's amusement. Got there in the end!

We've had a card telling us that the electricity may be cut off any time tomorrow between 8.15am and 5pm. So we're planning a trip to Nicosia. Hopefully not until after a morning coffee - if we can power the kettle๐Ÿ˜„.
