18th January In Search of a Market

This morning we went off on our travels in search of a local market that had been advertised in the tourist information office. So we took the coast road westwards to Ayia Thekla. Unfortunately we were not successful in finding it, but this could have been due to the recent floods as many areas are still recovering from the effects.

Undeterred we enjoyed our morning out exploring the relatively new marina and a nearby roman burial ground.

We couldn't find any places for a coffee so ended up going back for lunch (and a short nap for Ian 😀). Then as it was still lovely and warm we walked down to the harbour and along the beach front. Here we could see how the beach has been eroded away from the heavy rain and flooding. There has been much tree and seaweed debris strewn across the beach as well.

We came across a coast path at the far end of the beach so that could be a walk we can do sometime in the next few weeks. We've got to keep on track to hit our 10k daily target 😁.
