We set off after lunch as we had the North and South Stacks to get around so needed to go once the tidal flow had changed and going in our favour. Just as well as we zoomed past at over 8 knots going over the overalls in the flat calm. Sails up but not much wind to help us.
With Holyhead behind us we headed down the west coast of Holy Island, south of Anglesey and the Menai Straits. We're now anchored in the very popular bay of Porthdinllean which was recommended to us last night and seems to attract the yachts (we were warned the beach side pub plays reggae music until late at night). Today it's also brought in one very large motor cruiser with a group of hard of hearing middle aged party goers on it (they must be as the music is sooooo loud). Barry Manilow, Spandau Ballet, Human League and Frankie Goes to Hollywood booming out! We're anchored some distance from them and we're still enjoying the music - at least it's our era and it's a good selection 😅 Saves us going to the pub for entertainment - we can sit in the cockpit with our drinks and dinner and listen to the musical repertoire from the boat and the pub.
Tomorrow we're off to Pwllheli which is basically the other side of the peninsula from where we're currently anchored. About 30 miles to get there starting at lunch time when the tidal flow is in the right direction. Hopefully we'll have some wind to help us on our journey and some sunshine would be lovely.
