14th July Domestic Duties & Dalkey

First job of the day, after discovering the milk had turned to yoghurt, was to pack up our mountains of washing. We then had to get our dinghy in the water, the outboard engine secured on the back and oars secured before we headed into shore. I made sure I had my waterproof trousers on to ensure I stayed dry as I have a poor track record of getting wet in the dinghy.

A splash free ride with a seal swimming very close to us as we went ashore. Then leaving the dinghy tied up at DMYC we lugged our washing to the nearby garage to get our washing done.

Every garage should have washing                                   machines

As a wash took 40 minutes we walked along to East Pier but had to turn back before we'd even started walking down it in order to be back for the end of the cycle. The dryer was the same amount of time so this time we tried walking along the closer West Pier. However we spent most of the time watching seals and taking photos of Anya in the harbour.

Washing complete we got everything back on board, had lunch and then had another trip back to DMYC. This time we turned right to the nearest DART train station to work out times and costs for a trip into Dublin tomorrow. Then back along the seashore to the James Joyce Martello tower to find out about JJs visit there.

We then extended our walk by going further along the coast to Dalkey. A very pretty town that seemed to be over run with Italian students staying in the local private school. We found a good coffee shop and had fruit scones to fuel ourselves up for the long walk back. Over 27,000 steps today!

To end the evening we stopped in at DMYC as it was a club race night and the bar was open and food served. Saved me from cooking 😊.

Tomorrow we're either spending a day in Dublin or getting a one day travel card to go to Hoath, Malahide and possibly Bray. Let's see what the weather's like in the morning.
