Parking ended up being a challenge with Ian dropping us off near the fruit and veg end of the market to then go off in search of a parking spot. He ended up about 10 minutes walk away near the mini golf, but at least it meant we could grab a drink before we headed back.
Empuiabrava beach front market was definitely busier than normal. At occasions there would be a holdup of shoppers - very similar to being on the motorway when there's a huge tailback and then no real reason for the bottle neck. Luckily all the stalls have awnings which provided a cool shade as we perused items on display.
We spotted a rather nifty convertible Smart car which Peter has likened to a go kart as it doesn't have doors or a roof!
Also noticed on our walk back to the car - cats in two rucksacks!! Who takes their cat shopping? And why??
For the discerning shopper who likes their hot chocolate - a serious quantity of chocolate powder (4.5kg). You don't see these in Tesco.
On our way back we made the most of the car and shopped for heavier items and ice cream. Unfortunately we were doomed with parking again with Ian unloading us and the shopping at the apartment while he then went in search of somewhere to park - Saturday and sunny = busy!!
About half an hour later Ian called to say he was back and for me to come down. He'd spent ages driving around and eventually gave up looking and ended up parking over by Mercadona (a good 20 minutes walk away). He then walked back to find a space right outside!
I was then dispatched to stand in the space and fend off any potential parkers. Ian then grabbed one of our bikes, cycled back to the car, loaded the car in the boot and drove back hoping that I'd maintained 'ownership' of the space....
Luckily my mere presence and having my back to the traffic seemed to do the job. No one attempted to take the spot - thankfully!! Now we definitely won't be moving the car unless absolutely necessary before a planned airport run.
This afternoon it's been cooler than the past few days as it became cloudy for a while. But then we had to construct a towel tent to provide shade when the sun did come out. Towels and pegs did the job.
This evening it's ended up being very muggy and we've been a tad warm inside - we batten down the hatches to avoid the mozzies. Thankfully a few fans have kept us cool.
Another hot one forecast for tomorrow 🥵.
