29 May Early Morning Wildlife

An edit from yesterday's golf result, after receiving an update from the organiser this morning - Ian was first in the men's league and I was second in the ladies. Not bad for only playing once a month when we're here.

Anyway, back to today. This morning whilst creeping back to bed, after my early morning trip to the loo, I noticed a small, dark shape on the curtain. Not wanting to put my hands on something nasty I grabbed my glasses for a bit of focus on the matter and espied a particularly large bug. I then hotfooted it to get a glass to ensure it's capture until it was a sensible hour for releasing it outside - Ian's first job of the morning.

An Oriental Cockroach according to my ObsIdentify app! (All down to Walking Buddy Sarah who suggested the app when we tried to identify plants last year).

For information - you have to take a photo of what you want identified and upload it and you get immediate identification. It also gives you information on it's rarity, where it's normally found, and you can even get virtual badges when you upload photos to be identified. Very useful. Especially when you want to know if it's something to be avoided in the early hours.

We've never seen one of these cockroaches before so hopefully it had just flown in by mistake. It's made me quite glad for our mozzie tent as I wouldn't want one of those crawling on me at night!

Today has been a scorcher so we've been making the most of the shade and cold drinks.

We didn't go to the beach until just before 6pm and it was still busy. Luckily the spot under the trees by the harbour wall was vacant so we made camp there. I was on Nana duty while Ian and Amy went off snorkeling. They managed to spot a cuttlefish amongst the fish darting about today and luckily there are no jellyfish about.

Looks like a cooler day tomorrow 😄
