Our first circuit was unrestricted but in the time we'd circled round the footpath was closed and trees were being cut down. Some people ahead of us decided to ignore the sign and carried on, but we decided that we didn't want to run the risk of a tree falling on us so in my opinion sensibly turned back.
Fortunately our return route took us past the lakeside cafe. A sign that we had to stop for a cuppa and a leisurely natter. I'm pleased to add we did manage to nearly hit 10k steps today despite our shorter walk.
This afternoon was then spent enjoying lunch in the company of friends who are about 20 minutes away from us. Not having seen them since February we had quite a lot to catch up on. Then on the way back we detoured slightly to go in search of silk and artificial flowers as I've been on the hunt for thistles!
Over the last week I've been to several garden centres, craft shops and potential outlets but had drawn a blank on thistles. But after a suggestion to try out Notcutts in Maidstone I eventually hit the jack pot. Yay!! I hope to get a bit crafty with them tomorrow if my amazing florist expert friend Pauline thinks I've got the right sort of stuff and she has the vision to create what I need.
I'll report back tomorrow.
